After watching these videos, the one thing that kept on coming to mind was the one thing that really kept this “FREE” and “USER EXTRAFRIENDLY” environment was the idea of advertisement. Will the internet users become fickle enough for advertisers to stop investing in banners? Isn’t that what keeps the internet profitable? Banners? And when that guy kept on talking about free and the internet would truly make that idea about free electricity true: I guess information and music will be free. Products turning into downloads? It sounds good, but I feel like only 30% of the products I want are downloadable. When I hear free I feel like a poor person should profit most of it, but free in this context seems like the higher business class person, someone who profits off of downloading something: College Students, Business men, people who KIND OF have it hard. Perhaps all this profit will trickle down into something tangible like lower cost of groceries. Lets see, if HEB get big on the internet and not need to invest so much into its facilities, it would not need to spend so much, thus food would be less expensive. Sounds good. I feel like the future business models will be a little better; less facilities, less technical BS, more profit, all online just like amazon. But I am not sure it will impact the lower class.
